Phayargyi museum can see U Ngwe Kaing’s painting in there who is a famous artist of Dawei. In the second floor, it can see ancient statues, silver coins, customs and famous people of Dawei photos are putting on the wall.

Tanintharyi Region Cultural Museum
There are 2 museums in Dawei. Among them, Tanintharyi Region Cultural Museum is the biggest and located in the Strand Road. It takes only 5 minutes from the centre of the town by motorbike. In the front side of the museum compound, we can see Dawei traditional boat and Tanintharyi traditional dragon boat. The museum displays about stone weapons from the stone age, the mineral products, fauna and flora, bird nest industry, rubber, types of available oil in Dawei, traditional festivals, Dawei ancient cities and history, cottage industry, traditional house and ethnicity and famous people statues of Dawei etc. The museum is open every Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The entrance fee is cheap, it is 200 kyats for local and 2$ (2000 kyats) for foreign visitors.

Phayargyi Museum
The museum locates in the Lawkamarazay Payargyi pagoda compound. It’s 2 stories building and the first floor displays Dawei ancient people’s things such as ceramics, ironware and vespers. You can see U Ngwe Kaing’s painting in there who is a famous artist of Dawei. In the second floor, you can see ancient statues, silver coins, customs and famous people of Dawei photos are putting on the wall. The museum is closed every Monday and in the other days, you can visit between 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. The entrance fee is free but visitors need to take off shoes because it is in the pagod
